Get to know your PDF before you start
A digital page and a scan need different checks.
PDF preserves a document’s presentation when shared. It can contain text, images, links and other elements; two pages that look alike do not always have the same structure.
Before you start
Keep a copy of the original and define what you want to achieve.
Look and try
Open the file, browse its pages and try selecting a sentence. If it only contains an image, you will need text recognition to recover its words.
Choose for your goal
To rewrite, see PDF to Word; to work with a table, PDF to Excel; to change the sequence, Organize pages.
Review the copy
After transforming the file, compare the result with the original. Your review depends on its use: text, figures, appearance and page order.
If something does not go as expected
Changing the filename extension does not convert the file. Use the tool that generates the format you need.
You know which result you need and have kept the source document.
